Welcome to our School Council Page.

At Howden-le-Wear Primary School, we believe in the power of student voice, and our School Council is a fantastic platform for this! In September, new council members were democratically elected by their classmates, ensuring that every student has a say in shaping our school environment. Already, the council has made impressive strides, securing funding for a bike and scooter rack/storage area on school grounds, and installing a postbox where students can share their ideas and suggestions. Each term, the School Council will focus on key priorities; for this term, we are concentrating on the bike rack and enhancing our playground with new sports equipment. Through regular meetings, School Council members discuss these ideas and work collaboratively to bring them to life, fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership among our students. The School Council is not just about making decisions; it’s about empowering students to actively participate in their school community, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard and valued.
